Eye Care

I am in front of a computer on an average of 12 hours a day. To add to the misery, I carry an Android phone which I actively use to check emails, be in touch with friends etc. Because of the long hours, I try to take proper care of my eyes. A combination of various things have helped me over the past couple of years.

  • Healthy diet which includes lots of green leafy vegetables
  • Keeping myself hydrated
  • Following the 20-20-20 rule [ Every 20 minutes focus on a far-away object (20 feet or more) for 20 seconds ]
  • Light massaging of the eye region every few days when I get up in the morning
  • A wonderful wife and family which cares for me

I have read that severe eye-illness (like glaucoma) can affect any individual who has had no history of eye-problems. Since I am making my eyes work so much, I feel it is necessary to get them checked every year. I have booked an appointment with my local optometrist in early June 2012. Once my exam is complete, I will write a short post on the outcomes of the exam. Whatever may be the outcome, I plan to visit my optometrist every year and take proper care of my eyes.
